Training Course “Public Procurement for Business” Launched

On 14 February 2017, free on-line public procurement training for business was launched by the Ministry of Economic development and Trade in cooperation with the Project via Prometheus educational platform.

In the light of the success to date of the online training programme for procuring entities and considering the lack of professional capacity at all levels in the public procurement system, it was decided to widen the initiative to include business interests. The course is designed as introductory public procurement training with a specific business-user focus. The estimated target audience for the course is some 40,000 business users on the assumption that at least one person on average from each active business may have an interest in participating.

At the same time, it should be noted that the course is not intended to constitute or substitute for professional education in public procurement. For business trainees wishing to acquire a deeper knowledge about different aspects of public procurement there is the further option of signing up for the existing on-line course for procuring entities.

The training lecturers include specialists from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the EU Project and other leading Ukrainian and international procurement experts.

The first on-line training in public procurement “Training for ALL” was developed by the Project and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in 2015/2016 to address a chronic need to ensure that up to 100,000 officials dealing with public procurement in Ukraine annually received some professional training. The course commenced in May 2016 and is being delivered via “PROMETHEUS” education platform. 14,000 people have registered for the public procurement “Training for ALL” course.
